London to Seoul (LHR–ICN) — Airlines, Schedules & Connections

British passport holders enter South Korea visa-free for up to 90 days. No fee, no advance application. Passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the entry date. Since April 2023, all visa-free visitors must complete K-ETA (Korean Electronic Travel Authorization) at k-eta.go.kr at least 72 hours before departure. The K-ETA fee is 10,000 KRW (about $7) and is valid for 2 years.

On arrival, provide fingerprints and a photo at immigration. Bring proof of accommodation and a return ticket. For stays beyond 90 days, apply for an extension at a local immigration office (60,000 KRW fee). Working on a tourist entry is not permitted.

Direct flights from London Heathrow to Seoul Incheon (ICN) run 11 to 11 hours 30 minutes on Korean Air, Asiana, and British Airways. The Korean won trades at roughly 1,350 KRW per $1. T-money transit cards (purchasable at any convenience store for 2,500 KRW) work on all Seoul metro, buses, and taxis. Credit cards are accepted almost everywhere, including street food stalls. No vaccination requirements for UK arrivals.

Heathrow Express runs from London Paddington to T5 and T2/T3 in 15–21 minutes (£37 single, cheaper booked online or via the Heathrow app). Elizabeth line (Crossrail) is a lower-cost alternative; Paddington to T5 in 34 minutes from £13.50 with an Oyster/contactless cap of £14.90. The Elizabeth line also serves central London stations including Bond Street, Farringdon, and Liverpool Street.London Underground Piccadilly line serves all terminals (T2/T3/T4/T5) from central London in 40–60 minutes (£6 with Oyster). Taxis (black cabs) from central London cost £55–90 depending on traffic. Coach services from Victoria Coach Station (National Express) cost from £10 booked in advance.

AREX Direct Train to Seoul Station (43 min, ₩11,000) is a reserved-seat express. The All-Stop train serves Hongik University, City Hall, and other inner-city stations (66 min, ₩4,550). T2 passengers board at a dedicated T2 stop before T1; don't exit early. City Check-in at Seoul Station allows bag drop and boarding pass printing before the train for select airlines.Limousine buses serve major hotel zones and neighborhoods (₩16,000–18,000). Taxis from ICN to central Seoul cost ₩65,000–90,000; use only official orange (general) or black (deluxe) cabs from the designated stands. KakaoTaxi (ride-hail) operates from the airport.

Humid continental climate. Winters are cold and dry (−8 to 2°C, December–February) with occasional snow and wind chill. ICN handles snow well, though heavy falls delay operations. Summer monsoon (Changma) runs late June through July with heavy continuous rain. Typhoons can affect operations August–September with short notice.

Spring brings Yellow Dust (hwangsa) from China. Fine particulate storms reduce visibility and occasionally disrupt flights in March–April. Autumn (October–November) is the best flying season: clear skies, low humidity, 8–18°C. Pack layers for spring and fall. Summer is hot and humid (25–32°C).
