Warsaw to Seoul (WAW–ICN) — Airlines, Schedules & Connections

Polish passport holders can enter South Korea visa-free for up to 90 days. No fee, no advance application. Passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry. Complete the K-ETA (Korea Electronic Travel Authorization) at k-eta.go.kr before travel (KRW 10,000, about PLN 30, processed within 72 hours). K-ETA is valid for 2 years with multiple entries. As of 2024, K-ETA requirements are periodically waived for certain nationalities, so verify the current status before applying.

At Incheon (ICN) or Gimpo (GMP), go through standard immigration with your passport and K-ETA approval. Processing is fast. The 90-day stay cannot be extended for tourism. Working requires a separate visa (E-series) arranged through the Korean Embassy in Warsaw before travel.

LOT flies nonstop from Warsaw to Seoul Incheon in about 10 hours. Korean Air and Asiana also operate the route. From Seoul, domestic flights to Busan, Jeju, and Daegu take about 1 hour on Korean Air, Asiana, Jin Air, or T'way Air. Korea uses the South Korean won (KRW), trading at roughly 345 KRW per PLN 1 or 1,350 KRW per USD 1. Card payments are universal, including street food vendors and taxis. No mandatory vaccinations. The T-money card (KRW 2,500 deposit) works on all Seoul metro, buses, taxis, and convenience stores. Airport Railroad Express (AREX) from Incheon to Seoul Station takes 43 minutes and costs KRW 9,500.

SKM (Szybka Kolej Miejska) commuter rail Line S2/S3 connects Warsaw Central (Warszawa Centralna) to WAW in 25 minutes (PLN 4.40 within Zone 1, or PLN 7.00 including Zone 2). Trains depart roughly every 15–30 minutes. The platform is directly below the terminal; no bus transfer needed.Bus lines 175, 188, and N32 (night) serve the city center for PLN 4.40. Taxis cost PLN 40–60 from the center (20–30 min). Uber and Bolt (dominant ride-share in Poland) run PLN 30–50. Parking from PLN 30/day in the remote car park.

AREX Direct Train to Seoul Station (43 min, ₩11,000) is a reserved-seat express. The All-Stop train serves Hongik University, City Hall, and other inner-city stations (66 min, ₩4,550). T2 passengers board at a dedicated T2 stop before T1; don't exit early. City Check-in at Seoul Station allows bag drop and boarding pass printing before the train for select airlines.Limousine buses serve major hotel zones and neighborhoods (₩16,000–18,000). Taxis from ICN to central Seoul cost ₩65,000–90,000; use only official orange (general) or black (deluxe) cabs from the designated stands. KakaoTaxi (ride-hail) operates from the airport.

Humid continental climate. Winters are cold and dry (−8 to 2°C, December–February) with occasional snow and wind chill. ICN handles snow well, though heavy falls delay operations. Summer monsoon (Changma) runs late June through July with heavy continuous rain. Typhoons can affect operations August–September with short notice.

Spring brings Yellow Dust (hwangsa) from China. Fine particulate storms reduce visibility and occasionally disrupt flights in March–April. Autumn (October–November) is the best flying season: clear skies, low humidity, 8–18°C. Pack layers for spring and fall. Summer is hot and humid (25–32°C).
