British passport holders enter Poland (Schengen Area) visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day rolling period. No fee, no advance application. Passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond the planned departure date with at least two blank pages. UK passports are stamped on entry and exit at Schengen borders since Brexit.

No supporting documents are mandatory, though border officers can request proof of accommodation, onward travel, and sufficient funds (roughly PLN 300 per day, about EUR 70, is the official guideline though rarely enforced for UK nationals). The 90-day limit is shared across all 29 Schengen countries. ETIAS pre-travel authorization (EUR 7, valid 3 years) is expected to become mandatory in late 2026.

Direct flights from London to Warsaw Chopin (WAW) run about 2 hours 30 minutes on LOT Polish Airlines and British Airways. Krakow (KRK), Gdansk (GDN), and Wroclaw (WRO) all have direct UK flights on Ryanair and Wizz Air from multiple airports. Poland uses the Polish zloty (PLN), trading at roughly 4.1 PLN per $1. Card payments are accepted nearly everywhere, including small shops and market stalls. No vaccination requirements. Uber and Bolt both operate in major Polish cities and are cheaper than taxis. Jakdojade is the local public transport app covering all major cities.

Heathrow Express runs from London Paddington to T5 and T2/T3 in 15–21 minutes (£37 single, cheaper booked online or via the Heathrow app). Elizabeth line (Crossrail) is a lower-cost alternative; Paddington to T5 in 34 minutes from £13.50 with an Oyster/contactless cap of £14.90. The Elizabeth line also serves central London stations including Bond Street, Farringdon, and Liverpool Street.London Underground Piccadilly line serves all terminals (T2/T3/T4/T5) from central London in 40–60 minutes (£6 with Oyster). Taxis (black cabs) from central London cost £55–90 depending on traffic. Coach services from Victoria Coach Station (National Express) cost from £10 booked in advance.

The SKM commuter train (PLN 4.40–7.00) from platform level in the terminal to Warszawa Centralna takes 25 minutes; easiest and most affordable. Trains run every 15–30 minutes from around 04:30 to midnight. Night bus N32 covers late arrivals.Taxi from the official rank: PLN 40–60 to city center. Uber and Bolt: PLN 30–50, pickup from the designated zone outside arrivals. Rental cars from several major brands are in the arrivals hall. Solidarity Airport (Chopin's formal name) is 10km south of the center via Aleje Jerozolimskie.

Humid continental climate with cold winters and warm summers. January averages −3–2°C. Snow and freezing rain are common from December through February and cause routine de-icing delays and occasional cancellations. Snowfall can be heavy. WAW has robust de-icing capability, but significant events still cause disruption.

Summers (June–August) are warm at 22–28°C with frequent thunderstorms in July. Spring and autumn offer the most operationally stable weather. Pack a proper winter coat from November through March. Wind chill on the tarmac is significant.
