New Delhi to Copenhagen (DEL–CPH) — Airlines, Schedules & Connections

Indian passport holders need a Schengen visa to enter Denmark. Apply through VFS Global centres in India (New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune, and others). A short-stay tourist visa (Type C) costs EUR 80 (about INR 7,200) for adults, EUR 40 for children aged 6 to 12. Processing takes 15 calendar days, extending to 30 to 45 days during summer peak. Biometrics are collected at the VFS centre.

Required documents include a passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the planned Schengen departure with two blank pages, completed application form, two passport photos (35x45mm), travel medical insurance covering EUR 30,000, confirmed round-trip flight booking, hotel reservations or host invitation letter (with CPR number of the Danish host), bank statements for the last 3 months, income tax returns, employment letter with salary and leave approval, and a detailed travel itinerary. Denmark processes Indian Schengen applications through the Danish Embassy in New Delhi.

No direct flights connect India to Denmark. Connections through Dubai, Doha, Istanbul, or European hubs (Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Helsinki) to Copenhagen run 10 to 14 hours total. Denmark uses the Danish krone (DKK), trading at about 7.46 DKK per EUR 1. Card payments are accepted virtually everywhere in Denmark, and many shops do not take cash at all. No mandatory vaccinations. The metro from Copenhagen Airport (CPH) to the city center takes 14 minutes for DKK 39 (about EUR 5.20). Copenhagen airport is also the gateway to Malmo, Sweden, reachable by train across the Oresund Bridge in 35 minutes.

Delhi Metro Airport Express runs from New Delhi Railway Station to T3 in 18–20 minutes (₹60 one-way). From Shivaji Stadium (central Delhi) it takes 24 minutes. The line has four stations: New Delhi, Shivaji Stadium, Dhaula Kuan, and IGI Airport (T3). T1 (domestic) is not directly served; take the metro to T3 and the free airport bus shuttle to T1.Prepaid taxis from the terminal use a metered system with fixed rates; central Delhi costs ₹400–600. Ola and Uber operate widely and are often cheaper. Auto-rickshaws are not permitted on the expressway.

The Metro M2 runs every 4–6 minutes from the airport station to central Copenhagen (15 min, DKK 36 on Rejsekort). DSB regional trains depart for Copenhagen Central Station (13 min) and continue to Malmö (Sweden) via the Øresund Bridge (35 min total from airport). Taxis from arrivals to the city centre cost DKK 250–350; Uber also operates.Terminal 3 (international) and Terminal 2 (domestic/Schengen) are connected by a covered walkway. Rental car desks are in Terminal 3 arrivals. CPH is also a ferry hub; routes to Oslo (DFDS) and Bornholm depart from Copenhagen's harbour, accessible via city transit.

Temperate maritime climate. Winters (November–February) are cold and frequently overcast at −2 to 5°C with rain, sleet, and occasional snow. Copenhagen is better prepared for winter operations than many European cities, but heavy snowfall still causes delays. Fog is a seasonal disruption risk, particularly October through January.

Summers (June–August) are mild and pleasant at 18–24°C with long daylight hours and generally good flying conditions. Wind from the southwest can be strong year-round. CPH has a crosswind reputation. Spring and autumn are transitional and variable.
