Warsaw to Copenhagen (WAW–CPH) — Airlines, Schedules & Connections

Polish passport holders enter Denmark freely as EU and Schengen zone citizens. No visa, no time limit, no border control. Bring your Polish passport or national ID card. Since both countries are in the Schengen area, there are no immigration checks on flights or land crossings.

For stays beyond 3 months, apply for an EU residence certificate at the State Administration (Statsforvaltningen) within 3 months of arrival. You need proof of employment, self-employment, study enrollment, or sufficient funds, plus a CPR number (personal identification number) obtained at the local Borgerservice office. The CPR number is essential for opening bank accounts, accessing healthcare, and signing rental contracts. EU citizens can work in Denmark without a permit.

Direct flights from Warsaw to Copenhagen run about 1 hour 45 minutes on LOT, SAS, and Ryanair. Wizz Air flies from Gdansk, and additional routes serve Copenhagen from Wroclaw and Krakow. Denmark uses the Danish krone (DKK), trading at roughly 1.75 DKK per PLN 1 or about 7.46 DKK per EUR 1. Card and mobile payments work everywhere. Many shops do not accept cash. No mandatory vaccinations. Copenhagen's metro runs 24/7. A single ticket costs DKK 24 (about PLN 14). The Rejsekort travel card (DKK 80 deposit) offers lower per-ride prices on buses, trains, and metro.

SKM (Szybka Kolej Miejska) commuter rail Line S2/S3 connects Warsaw Central (Warszawa Centralna) to WAW in 25 minutes (PLN 4.40 within Zone 1, or PLN 7.00 including Zone 2). Trains depart roughly every 15–30 minutes. The platform is directly below the terminal; no bus transfer needed.Bus lines 175, 188, and N32 (night) serve the city center for PLN 4.40. Taxis cost PLN 40–60 from the center (20–30 min). Uber and Bolt (dominant ride-share in Poland) run PLN 30–50. Parking from PLN 30/day in the remote car park.

The Metro M2 runs every 4–6 minutes from the airport station to central Copenhagen (15 min, DKK 36 on Rejsekort). DSB regional trains depart for Copenhagen Central Station (13 min) and continue to Malmö (Sweden) via the Øresund Bridge (35 min total from airport). Taxis from arrivals to the city centre cost DKK 250–350; Uber also operates.Terminal 3 (international) and Terminal 2 (domestic/Schengen) are connected by a covered walkway. Rental car desks are in Terminal 3 arrivals. CPH is also a ferry hub; routes to Oslo (DFDS) and Bornholm depart from Copenhagen's harbour, accessible via city transit.

Temperate maritime climate. Winters (November–February) are cold and frequently overcast at −2 to 5°C with rain, sleet, and occasional snow. Copenhagen is better prepared for winter operations than many European cities, but heavy snowfall still causes delays. Fog is a seasonal disruption risk, particularly October through January.

Summers (June–August) are mild and pleasant at 18–24°C with long daylight hours and generally good flying conditions. Wind from the southwest can be strong year-round. CPH has a crosswind reputation. Spring and autumn are transitional and variable.
