Swedish passport holders enter Belgium freely as EU citizens. No visa, no time limit on stays. Bring your Swedish passport or national ID card (both work). Belgium is in both the EU and the Schengen area, so flights from Sweden are intra-Schengen with no passport control on arrival.

For stays beyond 3 months, register at the local commune (municipality) within 8 working days of arrival. Bring your ID, proof of address, and proof of employment or sufficient resources. The commune issues an Annexe 19 receipt, followed by a registration certificate after a police verification visit to your address. This takes 4 to 6 weeks and costs about EUR 25. EU citizens can live and work in Belgium without a work permit. Direct flights from Stockholm to Brussels run about 2 hours 15 minutes on SAS and Brussels Airlines. Gothenburg to Brussels has service on certain carriers. Belgium uses the euro, trading at about 10.6 SEK per EUR 1. No mandatory vaccinations. Brussels' STIB network (metro, trams, buses) costs EUR 2.10 per trip on a MOBIB card or EUR 7.50 for a day pass. Belgium's three official languages (Dutch, French, German) mean the country is divided into linguistic regions: Flanders (Dutch), Wallonia (French), and a small German-speaking community in the east. English is widely spoken in Brussels and business settings.

The Arlanda Express train runs non-stop from Stockholm Central Station to ARN in 18 minutes (SEK 280–320 one-way, cheaper booked online). The Pendeltåg (commuter rail) stops at Arlanda South/North stations for SEK 145 total (including a SEK 120 airport supplement); the journey takes 40 minutes.Taxis from central Stockholm cost SEK 600–800 (45–60 min). Uber runs SEK 400–600. The E4 motorway connects the airport to the city; traffic can be heavy southbound during afternoon rush. Driving takes 35–50 minutes in normal conditions.

The Airport Express train to Brussels Central takes 17 minutes (€11.80) and runs every 15–20 minutes from 05:30 to midnight. The platform is in the basement of the terminal building, no separate transfer needed.Taxis to central Brussels cost €40–55. For Ghent, direct trains run via Leuven (€20, 1h 10min). For Bruges, change at Brussels Midi (€22, 1h 30min total). Rental car desks are in the arrivals hall. Flixbus and other coach services connect from the airport to several European cities.

Temperate oceanic climate with mild, wet conditions year-round. Winters (December–February) are grey and damp at 1–7°C. Fog and freezing drizzle occasionally cause morning delays at BRU. Snow is possible but rarely heavy enough to close the airport.

Summers (June–August) are warm at 18–25°C with occasional thunderstorms. The airport sees its most operationally stable weather in spring (April–May) and early autumn (September). Pack waterproofs regardless of season. Brussels averages 160+ rain days per year.
