Keep the FMM stub they give you at immigration. You need it to leave the country. Losing it means a replacement fee of about MXN 650 at the INM office.
Passport must be valid for the duration of your stay. Immigration officers decide how many days to grant, and it may be less than 180. If you need the full period, mention it at the counter. There is no extension process for the FMM. If your days run out, you must leave Mexico and re-enter.
