Warsaw to Narita (WAW–NRT) — Airlines, Schedules & Connections

Polish passport holders can enter Japan visa-free for up to 90 days. No fee, no advance application. Passport must be valid for the duration of your stay. Complete the Visit Japan Web form (vjw.digital.go.jp) before arrival to pre-register your immigration and customs information. At Narita (NRT), Haneda (HND), Kansai (KIX), or other international airports, present your passport and the VJW QR code. Immigration issues a "temporary visitor" stamp for 90 days.

The 90-day stay is not extendable for tourism. Working is not permitted on a temporary visitor status. If you want to extend, you must leave and re-enter (Japan has no mandatory gap between visits, but immigration may question frequent back-to-back stays). For work, apply for a work visa through the Japanese Embassy in Warsaw before travel.

LOT flies nonstop from Warsaw to Tokyo Narita in about 11 hours. Return flights run about 12 hours. From Tokyo, ANA and JAL operate domestic connections to Osaka, Sapporo, Fukuoka, Okinawa, and Hiroshima. Japan uses the Japanese yen (JPY), trading at roughly 38 JPY per PLN 1 or 150 JPY per USD 1. Cash is still important in Japan, especially at smaller restaurants, shrines, and rural areas. ATMs at 7-Eleven and Japan Post accept foreign cards. No mandatory vaccinations. The Japan Rail Pass (JR Pass) for 7 days costs JPY 50,000 (about PLN 1,300) and covers unlimited Shinkansen and JR trains nationwide. IC cards (Suica, Pasmo) work on all urban transit for JPY 1,000 minimum charge.

SKM (Szybka Kolej Miejska) commuter rail Line S2/S3 connects Warsaw Central (Warszawa Centralna) to WAW in 25 minutes (PLN 4.40 within Zone 1, or PLN 7.00 including Zone 2). Trains depart roughly every 15–30 minutes. The platform is directly below the terminal; no bus transfer needed.Bus lines 175, 188, and N32 (night) serve the city center for PLN 4.40. Taxis cost PLN 40–60 from the center (20–30 min). Uber and Bolt (dominant ride-share in Poland) run PLN 30–50. Parking from PLN 30/day in the remote car park.

Keisei Skyliner (41 min to Ueno, ¥2,570) and Narita Express (N'EX, 60 min to Tokyo Station, ¥3,070) are the primary train options. Limousine buses serve major hotels throughout Tokyo, Yokohama, and even Osaka for ¥3,200–¥6,000. Terminals 1, 2, and 3 are connected by free shuttle bus; Terminal 3 (LCC) is a 15-minute walk or shuttle from Terminal 2.

Rental car desks are in the arrivals halls. Highway Bus (cheaper than limousine) is available to many cities. IC card (Suica/Pasmo) works on Keisei and JR lines from NRT at standard fares.

Humid subtropical climate. Summers (June–September) are hot, very humid, and subject to the rainy season (tsuyu) in June–July, followed by typhoon season peaking in August–October. Typhoons can close Narita for 12–24 hours. The airport is particularly exposed on the Chiba plain. Temperatures reach 28–34°C.

Winters (December–February) are cool and dry at 3–10°C with clear skies. This is the most reliable flying season. Snow is infrequent but causes significant disruption when it occurs. The Kanto plain is ill-equipped for heavy snowfall. Spring (late March–April) is mild.
