Warsaw to New Delhi (WAW–DEL) — Airlines, Schedules & Connections

Polish passport holders need a visa to enter India. The e-Visa (eTV) is the fastest route: apply at indianvisaonline.gov.in at least 4 days before travel. The e-Tourist Visa costs $25 for 30 days (single or double entry) or $40 for 1 year (multiple entry, 90 days per visit) or $80 for 5 years (multiple entry, 90 days per visit). Processing takes 3 to 5 working days. Payment by card. Print the approval letter (ETA) and carry it with your passport.

The e-Visa is valid at 28 designated airports including Delhi (DEL), Mumbai (BOM), Bangalore (BLR), Chennai (MAA), Kolkata (CCU), and Hyderabad (HYD). Required information at application: passport details, travel dates, accommodation address in India, a passport-style photo (JPEG, 350x350 pixels), and a scan of your passport bio page (PDF, under 300KB). Biometrics are captured on arrival. If you need a longer stay or a visa type not available as eTV, apply at the Indian Embassy in Warsaw (processing 5 to 7 working days, standard tourist visa $82).

LOT flies nonstop from Warsaw to Delhi in about 7 hours. Air India also operates the route. From Delhi, domestic carriers like IndiGo, Air India, and SpiceJet reach every major Indian city. India uses the Indian rupee (INR), trading at roughly 21 INR per PLN 1 or 83 INR per USD 1. ATMs are everywhere. Card payments work at hotels and larger shops, but carry cash for street vendors, auto-rickshaws, and smaller towns. No mandatory vaccinations for direct arrivals from Poland.

SKM (Szybka Kolej Miejska) commuter rail Line S2/S3 connects Warsaw Central (Warszawa Centralna) to WAW in 25 minutes (PLN 4.40 within Zone 1, or PLN 7.00 including Zone 2). Trains depart roughly every 15–30 minutes. The platform is directly below the terminal; no bus transfer needed.Bus lines 175, 188, and N32 (night) serve the city center for PLN 4.40. Taxis cost PLN 40–60 from the center (20–30 min). Uber and Bolt (dominant ride-share in Poland) run PLN 30–50. Parking from PLN 30/day in the remote car park.

Airport Express Metro from T3 to New Delhi Railway Station (18–20 min, ₹60) runs 5am–11:30pm. T1 (domestic departures) has a free shuttle to T3 for the metro. Prepaid taxi booths in arrivals offer fixed fares; the New Delhi railway area is ₹400–600.Ola and Uber are reliable from DEL and often cheaper than prepaid taxis. Delhi traffic is severe; plan 60–90 minutes for surface transport during peak hours even though the airport is only 15 km from Connaught Place. NH-48 expressway provides the main access road.

Semi-arid climate with extreme seasonal variation. Summers (April–June) are extremely hot (38–46°C). Heat affects ground crew capacity but flights operate normally. Monsoon season (July–September) brings heavy rain and severe thunderstorms that frequently cause delays and diversions. Dust storms (andhi) precede monsoon onset in May–June and reduce visibility to near zero within minutes.

Dense fog is the most disruptive winter condition. December and January bring persistent cold fog (5–10°C with near-zero visibility) that can shut down operations for hours each morning. Delhi is one of the foggiest major airports in Asia during this period. Autumn (October–November) and spring (February–March) are the most flight-stable windows.
