Visa & Entry

Chinese passport holders can enter the Philippines visa-free for up to 14 days when arriving through Manila or Cebu airports, under a programme running from January 2026 through January 2027. The stay is non-extendable. Outside this programme, a Philippine eVisa (single entry, 14 days, US $25) or embassy visa is required. Passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry, and a return or onward ticket is required.

Getting to TAO

Qingdao Metro Line 8 connects Qingdao North Railway Station and the urban rail network to Jiaodong Airport in 40–50 minutes for CNY 10–15. The new Jiaodong Airport replaced the former Liuting Airport in 2021 and is located further from the city centre (~55 km from downtown). Airport shuttle buses depart from major city transport hubs for CNY 30–40.DiDi and taxis from central Qingdao cost CNY 120–180 depending on traffic. Driving via Jihe Expressway and the airport spur takes 50–70 minutes in normal conditions. The greater distance from the city means surface travel times are longer than at the former airport.

Getting from MNL

Metered yellow taxis depart from each terminal's designated taxi queue; flag fall ₱70 plus meter. Confirm the driver uses the meter before entering; insist on it. Grab (Philippines ride-share) is a reliable alternative at ₱200–450 to Makati or BGC.Terminal 1, 2, 3, and 4 are not connected by a common transit link; confirm which terminal you arrive at well in advance. To BGC: ₱200–350, 20–40 min off-peak. To Manila Hotel area: ₱150–200, 30–60 min. Rental cars are available but driving in Manila is not recommended for the unfamiliar.

Manila (Pasay) Climate

Tropical climate with a pronounced wet season (June–November) and dry season (December–May). The wet season brings typhoons. MNL experiences some of the highest disruption rates of any major hub during this period. Cancellations and long delays are common when typhoons make landfall in Luzon.

Temperatures year-round range 25–35°C. The hot dry season (March–May) is uncomfortable but operationally stable. December through February is the most pleasant period at 24–30°C with low humidity. Monsoon rains cause frequent flooding on approach roads from June through October. Add extra ground transport time during this period.
