Saudi passport holders need a Schengen visa to enter Spain. Apply at the Spanish Embassy in Riyadh or the Consulate in Jeddah through the BLS International visa center. A short-stay (Type C) visa costs EUR 80 (about SAR 320) for adults and covers up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the Schengen area. Submit the application 15 to 45 days before travel. Processing takes 10 to 15 calendar days.

Required documents: passport valid for at least 3 months beyond departure from the Schengen area with two blank pages, completed application form, two biometric photos, travel medical insurance covering EUR 30,000, flight reservation, hotel booking, bank statements for the last 3 months, and an employment or business letter. Spain is a top destination for Saudi travelers during summer, and the embassy sees high application volumes from June through August.

Direct flights from Riyadh to Madrid run about 6 hours on Saudia. Jeddah to Barcelona runs about 6 hours seasonally. Connecting through Istanbul, London, or Frankfurt opens routes to Malaga, Palma de Mallorca, and other coastal cities. Spain uses the euro, trading at roughly 3.95 SAR per EUR 1. Card payments work everywhere. No mandatory vaccinations. Madrid's metro costs EUR 1.50 to EUR 2 per trip on a Multi card. Barcelona's T-casual card gives 10 rides for EUR 11.35. Marbella and the Costa del Sol are popular with Gulf visitors, offering Arabic-speaking concierge services at many hotels. AVE high-speed trains connect Madrid to Barcelona in 2 hours 30 minutes (from EUR 25 booked early).

The C-1 Cercanías train to Málaga Centro-Alameda costs €1.80 and takes 12 minutes. Platforms in Terminal 3 are accessible via the connecting corridor. Run every 20–30 minutes.Taxis to Málaga center: €15–20. To Marbella: €60–80 (45–60 min). To Torremolinos or Benalmádena: €15–25. Rental car desks are in the arrivals hall; the N-340 coastal road provides good access to resort towns.

Mediterranean climate. One of the sunniest airports in Europe. Summers (June–September) are hot and dry at 28–36°C; virtually no rain and minimal disruption risk. Winters are mild at 10–18°C with occasional rain, rarely causing serious delays.

The Levante (easterly wind) can cause turbulence on approach, particularly in autumn. November through January sees the most rainfall. The airport handles heavy seasonal traffic peaks in July and August. Arrive early for check-in during summer.
