The B1/B2 visa is typically issued for 10 years with multiple entry. Each visit allows a stay of up to 6 months, determined by the CBP officer at the port of entry. At the US airport, CBP takes fingerprints and a photo and asks about your trip purpose and duration. Have your return ticket, hotel, and itinerary ready. Saudi students in the US use the F-1 visa, which requires a separate application and I-20 form from the university.

Direct flights from Riyadh to New York JFK run about 13 hours on Saudia. Jeddah to Washington Dulles (IAD) runs about 13 hours 30 minutes on Saudia. Connections through London, Frankfurt, or Doha add 3 to 5 hours but offer more US city options. The US uses the US dollar, trading at 3.75 SAR per $1. No mandatory vaccinations. Global Entry ($100, valid 5 years) provides expedited CBP processing via kiosks at major US airports, eliminating the standard immigration queue. Apply through the CBP One app or ttp.cbp.dhs.gov.

The Haramain High Speed Railway connects JED Airport Station to Jeddah city (King Abdullah Station) in about 15 minutes (SAR 20–25). The same line runs to Mecca and Medina, making it useful for Hajj and Umrah travelers.Taxis from central Jeddah cost SAR 60–100 and take 25–45 minutes. Uber and Careem operate widely and typically run SAR 40–80. Driving yourself is straightforward; the airport is well signed from King Abdulaziz Road and the Ring Road.

No direct rail from IAH. The METRO bus 102 (IAH Express) runs to downtown Houston's transit center (60–90 min, $1.25). Taxis to downtown Houston cost $50–70. Ride-hails pick up at the designated Rideshare zones outside baggage claim on the lower level.IAH has five terminals (A–E) connected by an underground tunnel with trams. Terminal D handles international arrivals. Rental car agencies are in a consolidated facility adjacent to Terminal C; a free IAH Connector bus runs between terminals and the rental car center. The Galleria / Uptown area costs $35–50 by ride-hail.

Humid subtropical climate. Hot, humid, and wet for much of the year. Summers are brutal (33–38°C) with high humidity and near-daily afternoon thunderstorms. Severe storms with hail and high winds regularly cause ground stops from April through September. Houston's flooding risk is significant. Heavy rain events, including tropical system remnants, have flooded airport roads, cutting off surface access even when the airport itself remains operational.

Winters are mild (5–18°C) with occasional ice storms. These are rare but highly disruptive when they occur. Hurricane season (June–November) requires monitoring for Gulf storms. October through March has the best flying weather.
