Visa & Entry

Japanese passport holders enter Denmark visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the Schengen area. No fee, no advance application. Passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen zone. You need proof of onward travel and sufficient funds for your stay.

At immigration, your passport is stamped on first entry into the Schengen area. The 90-day limit applies to total time in all 27 Schengen countries combined, not just Denmark. If you have already spent time in other Schengen countries on the same trip, subtract those days. For stays beyond 90 days, apply for a residence permit through the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI) before your visa-free period expires.

No mandatory vaccinations. Copenhagen's metro runs 24/7, and a single ticket costs DKK 24 (about $3.40). Temperate maritime climate. Winters (November–February) are cold and frequently overcast at −2 to 5°C with rain, sleet, and occasional snow. Copenhagen is better prepared for winter operations than many European cities, but heavy snowfall still causes delays. Fog is a seasonal disruption risk, particularly October through January.

Summers (June–August) are mild and pleasant at 18–24°C with long daylight hours and generally good flying conditions. Wind from the southwest can be strong year-round. CPH has a crosswind reputation. Spring and autumn are transitional and variable.
