Turkish passport holders enter Indonesia visa-free for up to 30 days under a reciprocal visa exemption that took effect in July 2025. No fee, no advance application. Passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry. At Ngurah Rai (DPS) in Bali, Soekarno-Hatta (CGK) in Jakarta, or other international airports, you receive a stamp at immigration. The visa-free entry is for tourism, business meetings, and medical visits only and cannot be extended.

If you want a longer stay, skip the visa-free lane and purchase a Visa on Arrival (VOA) instead, available at the same airports for IDR 500,000 (about TRY 1,050). The VOA is valid for 30 days and extendable once for another 30 days at a local immigration office. This gives you up to 60 days total. The visa-free entry does not offer this extension option, so choose the VOA at arrival if you might need more than 30 days.

Direct flights from Istanbul (IST) to Jakarta (CGK) run about 12 hours on Turkish Airlines. Istanbul to Bali (DPS) runs about 13 hours with a stop in Jakarta or via a Gulf hub. Indonesia uses the Indonesian rupiah (IDR), trading at roughly 482 IDR per TRY 1. ATMs are common in tourist areas. Card payments work at hotels, malls, and larger restaurants. Grab is the main ride-hailing app. A Grab car from Ngurah Rai airport to Seminyak costs about IDR 100,000 (TRY 210). Local warungs serve meals for IDR 20,000 to IDR 50,000 (TRY 42 to TRY 105).

Istanbul Metro M11 Gayrettepe–İstanbul Havalimanı line connects the airport to the broader metro network; from Gayrettepe (Mecidiyeköy/Levent area) the journey is about 35 minutes (₺60–70 with Istanbulkart). The line runs roughly 5am to midnight.Havaist express buses serve Taksim, Kadıköy, and other major hubs (₺50–80, 45–90 minutes depending on traffic). Taxis use a meter; expect ₺400–600 from Taksim or Sultanahmet. The airport is 35km northwest of the city; traffic on the O-7 motorway can be severe during peak hours.
