Indian passport holders need a Schengen visa to enter Switzerland. Apply at the Swiss Embassy or through VFS Global centres in New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad, or Jalandhar. A short-stay tourist visa (Type C, up to 90 days) costs EUR 80 (about INR 7,200) for adults, EUR 40 for children aged 6 to 12. Processing takes 15 calendar days, extending to 45 days during peak summer months. Book appointments through vfsglobal.com/switzerland/india.
Required documents include a passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the planned Schengen exit date with two blank pages, completed application form, two photos (35x45mm), travel medical insurance covering EUR 30,000 minimum, round-trip flight reservation, proof of accommodation (hotel bookings or host invitation with Einladung form from a Swiss resident), bank statements for the last 3 months, income tax returns for 2 to 3 years, employment letter with leave approval, and a detailed day-by-day travel itinerary. Switzerland is not an EU member but is part of the Schengen Area, so the visa covers travel to all 29 Schengen countries.

Temperate continental climate. Winters (November–February) are cold and frequently foggy on the Swiss Plateau; fog (Hochnebel) can persist for days and is the most common cause of delays, with the airport above the fog layer on clearer days but below it on others. Snow does occur but is well managed. Temperatures range from −2 to 5°C.
Summers (June–August) are warm at 22–28°C with afternoon thunderstorms that can be intense but brief. Spring and autumn are mild and variable. Hochnebel fog season (October–January) is the primary operational risk to plan around.
