South Korean passport holders enter Portugal visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the Schengen area. No fee, no advance application. Passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen zone.

Your passport is stamped on first entry into the Schengen area. The 90-day clock runs across all 27 Schengen countries, not just Portugal. For longer stays, Portugal offers a D7 passive income visa for retirees and remote workers (minimum monthly income of EUR 820, or EUR 760 per month in savings). Apply at the Portuguese Consulate in Seoul. Processing takes 2 to 3 months.

No direct flights connect South Korea to Portugal. Route through Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, or Istanbul to Lisbon (LIS) or Porto (OPO), with total travel times of 15 to 19 hours. Portugal uses the euro. No mandatory vaccinations. Lisbon's metro costs EUR 1.65 per ride with a Viva Viagem card (EUR 0.50 for the card itself). Uber and Bolt are widely available and often cheaper than taxis. Portugal uses the MB Way mobile payment system domestically, but Visa and Mastercard work at virtually all businesses. Lisbon is hilly, so wear comfortable shoes if walking the Alfama or Bairro Alto neighborhoods.

AREX (Airport Railroad Express) runs two services from Seoul Station: the Direct Train (43 min, ₩11,000, reserved seats) and the All-Stop train (66 min, ₩4,550, unreserved). Both trains serve T1 first, then T2; confirm which terminal your airline uses before boarding.Limousine buses depart from major Seoul neighborhoods and hotels (₩16,000–18,000, 60–90 min depending on traffic). KAL and LIMOUSINE services are reliable. Taxis from central Seoul cost ₩65,000–80,000 and take 60–90 minutes. Deluxe (black) taxis are pricier but English-speaking drivers are more common.

Metro Red Line directly from the airport station to central Lisbon in 20–25 minutes (€1.85 single). Most central destinations (Rossio, Baixa-Chiado, Oriente) are reachable within 30 minutes total. Operating hours 6:30am to 1am.Taxis cost €10–15 to the city centre. Uber and Bolt are cheaper still at €8–12. AeroBus to Marquês de Pombal costs €4. The airport is just 7km from the city centre; ground transport is fast by European standards.

Mediterranean climate. Summers are hot and sunny (28–35°C) with almost no rain. July and August rarely see any precipitation and offer the most reliable flying weather in Europe. Winters are mild and rainy (8–15°C), with the wettest months December through February.

Flight disruptions are uncommon. Atlantic coastal fog can affect early morning visibility in autumn (October–November). Wind off the Atlantic is persistent year-round and can affect smaller aircraft but rarely disrupts scheduled service.
