South Korean passport holders can enter Indonesia with a Visa on Arrival (VoA) for 30 days, costing IDR 500,000 (about $31). Pay by card or cash at the VoA counter before immigration at Bali Ngurah Rai (DPS), Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta (CGK), and other major airports. The VoA is extendable once for another 30 days at an immigration office in Indonesia for IDR 500,000. The eVoA at molina.imigrasi.go.id lets you prepay and skip the airport queue, processed within 2 days.

Passport must be valid for at least 6 months with one blank page. Have your return ticket accessible at the VoA counter. Indonesia also offers a free visa-free entry for 30 days (no extension possible) at select ports, but the VoA is worth the $31 if you might want to extend. For stays beyond 60 days, apply for a B211A social/cultural visa before travel through a sponsor or visa agent.

Direct flights from Seoul Incheon to Bali Denpasar run about 7 hours on Korean Air, Garuda Indonesia, and budget carriers (T'way, Jeju Air). Seoul to Jakarta runs about 7 hours 30 minutes. Indonesia uses the Indonesian rupiah (IDR), trading at roughly 0.09 KRW per IDR 1 (or about 11,500 IDR per 1,000 KRW). ATMs are everywhere in Bali and Jakarta. No mandatory vaccinations. Bali is 2 hours behind Korea. Grab works throughout Indonesia and is much cheaper than airport taxis. Pre-book a Grab at DPS arrivals to avoid the taxi touts outside.

AREX (Airport Railroad Express) runs two services from Seoul Station: the Direct Train (43 min, ₩11,000, reserved seats) and the All-Stop train (66 min, ₩4,550, unreserved). Both trains serve T1 first, then T2; confirm which terminal your airline uses before boarding.Limousine buses depart from major Seoul neighborhoods and hotels (₩16,000–18,000, 60–90 min depending on traffic). KAL and LIMOUSINE services are reliable. Taxis from central Seoul cost ₩65,000–80,000 and take 60–90 minutes. Deluxe (black) taxis are pricier but English-speaking drivers are more common.

The airport rail link runs to BNI City Station in central Jakarta (45 minutes, IDR 70,000-100,000). The station is a short walk from Sudirman MRT for onward connections. Trains depart every 30-60 minutes. From arrivals, follow signs to the Soekarno-Hatta train station connected to Terminals 2 and 3. Terminal 1 passengers take the free Skytrain shuttle first.

Grab and Gojek have designated pickup points at each terminal. Expect IDR 150,000-250,000 to central Jakarta and 45-120 minutes depending entirely on traffic. Airport taxis from the official counters cost slightly more but avoid surge pricing. DAMRI buses serve Gambir, Blok M, and several other hubs (IDR 40,000-60,000). Avoid metered taxis that approach you inside the terminal; use the queue outside.

Jakarta is tropical year-round with temperatures locked between 24 and 32 degrees C. There is no cold season. The wet season runs October through May with the heaviest rain in January and February (up to 300mm/month). Afternoon downpours are intense and can flood low-lying roads for hours. The dry season (June-September) brings sunnier days and lower humidity, with August seeing as little as 35mm of rain.

Humidity sits at 75-85% year-round, peaking in the wet season. Thunderstorms during the wet months can cause arrival delays. Pack light, breathable clothing no matter when you visit. A compact umbrella and waterproof bag liner are useful October through March. The dry season is the more comfortable window, with clearer skies and temperatures that feel a few degrees cooler thanks to lower moisture.
