Newark, Miami, Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia also have nonstop service to Italian cities. Italy uses the euro, trading at roughly $1.08 per EUR 1. Card payments work at most businesses, though small shops and trattorias may prefer cash for amounts under EUR 10. Rome's metro has 3 lines: single tickets cost EUR 1.50 ($1.62). A 7-day Roma Pass costs EUR 38.50 and includes unlimited transit plus museum discounts. A proper Italian lunch (primo, secondo, contorno, and house wine) at a neighborhood trattoria runs EUR 15 to EUR 25 ($16 to $27).

NJ Transit train from New York Penn Station to Newark Airport station takes 25–30 minutes ($13.50); an AirTrain connection ($5.50 more) links to the terminals. From Midtown Manhattan, the journey costs around $19 total.Ride-shares from Manhattan run $45–80 depending on traffic; add the $17.50 Lincoln Tunnel toll. Taxis from Manhattan carry a flat $55 rate plus tolls and tip. Allow 60–90 minutes from Midtown during peak hours.

Malpensa Express trains depart Terminal 1 every 30 minutes to Milano Cadorna (45 min, €13) and Milano Centrale (52 min, €13). Terminal 2 passengers must take the free inter-terminal shuttle to reach the train. Taxis from Terminal 1 charge a fixed rate of around €100 to central Milan; pre-booked private transfers can be slightly cheaper.

Rental car desks are located in Terminal 1's arrivals area with a separate multi-storey car park. The A8 and A26 motorways give good access to the broader Lombardy and Piedmont regions.

Humid subtropical/continental climate on the Po Plain. Summers (June–August) are hot and muggy at 28–34°C, with afternoon thunderstorms that can produce short but sharp ground delays. Winters (November–February) are cold, damp, and foggy at 0–7°C. Fog is the most significant disruption risk and can persist for days, causing diversions to Turin or Bergamo.

Spring and autumn are mild and pleasant but bring variable rain. Po Valley fog is notoriously dense. Check conditions carefully for November through January travel.
