Doha to Warsaw (DOH–WAW) — Airlines, Schedules & Connections

Qatari passport holders enter Poland (and the entire Schengen area) visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. This follows the EU-Qatar visa waiver agreement. No fee, no advance application. Passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond the planned departure from the Schengen area with at least two blank pages. At Warsaw Chopin (WAW) or Krakow (KRK), you go through the standard (non-EU) immigration lane and receive an entry stamp.

The 90/180-day rule covers all Schengen countries combined. Days spent in France, Germany, or any other Schengen state count toward the same 90-day limit. Travel insurance covering EUR 30,000 is not formally required for visa-free entry but worth having. For stays beyond 90 days, apply for a national visa (Type D) at the Polish Embassy in Doha before travel.

Direct flights from Doha to Warsaw run about 5 hours 30 minutes on Qatar Airways and LOT (codeshare). Poland uses the Polish zloty (PLN), trading at roughly 1.08 PLN per QAR 1 or about 4.30 PLN per EUR 1. Card payments are standard in cities. No mandatory vaccinations. Warsaw's metro, trams, and buses use a unified ticket system at PLN 4.40 per single ride or PLN 15 for 24 hours. Krakow's transit costs PLN 4.60 per trip. Poland is affordable by Western European standards: a restaurant meal runs PLN 40 to PLN 80 (QAR 37 to QAR 74).

Doha Metro Gold Line connects the city center directly to Hamad International; the Hamad International Airport station is at the terminal (15–20 min from Al Bidda / West Bay area, QAR 3–6). Metro runs 6am–11pm Sunday–Wednesday, until midnight Thursday, and 2pm–1am Friday. The Gold Line also connects to the Red and Green lines at Msheireb station for wider coverage.Taxis from West Bay / downtown Doha cost QAR 30–50 and take 15–25 minutes. Karwa taxis are metered and more regulated than informal options. Ride-hail apps (Careem, Uber) operate widely in Doha.

The SKM commuter train (PLN 4.40–7.00) from platform level in the terminal to Warszawa Centralna takes 25 minutes; easiest and most affordable. Trains run every 15–30 minutes from around 04:30 to midnight. Night bus N32 covers late arrivals.Taxi from the official rank: PLN 40–60 to city center. Uber and Bolt: PLN 30–50, pickup from the designated zone outside arrivals. Rental cars from several major brands are in the arrivals hall. Solidarity Airport (Chopin's formal name) is 10km south of the center via Aleje Jerozolimskie.

Humid continental climate with cold winters and warm summers. January averages −3–2°C. Snow and freezing rain are common from December through February and cause routine de-icing delays and occasional cancellations. Snowfall can be heavy. WAW has robust de-icing capability, but significant events still cause disruption.

Summers (June–August) are warm at 22–28°C with frequent thunderstorms in July. Spring and autumn offer the most operationally stable weather. Pack a proper winter coat from November through March. Wind chill on the tarmac is significant.
