Doha to Stockholm (DOH–ARN) — Airlines, Schedules & Connections

Qatari passport holders enter Sweden (and the entire Schengen area) visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period under the EU-Qatar visa waiver. No fee, no advance application. Passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond planned departure from the Schengen area with at least two blank pages. At Stockholm Arlanda (ARN) or Gothenburg Landvetter (GOT), you go through the non-EU immigration lane and receive an entry stamp.

The 90/180-day rule covers all Schengen countries combined. Days spent in Finland, Denmark, or any other Schengen state count toward the same 90-day allowance. For stays beyond 90 days, apply for a residence permit at the Swedish Migration Agency (Migrationsverket) before travel. Sweden offers work permits, student permits, and a startup visa for entrepreneurs.

Direct flights from Doha to Stockholm Arlanda run about 6 hours on Qatar Airways. Sweden uses the Swedish krona (SEK), trading at roughly 2.90 SEK per QAR 1. Card payments work everywhere, and Sweden is effectively cashless. Many shops and restaurants do not accept bills or coins. No mandatory vaccinations. Stockholm's SL card covers the metro, buses, trams, and ferries at SEK 42 per 75-minute trip or SEK 165 for 24 hours. Summer (June to August) brings 18 to 20 hours of daylight in Stockholm, while winter days shrink to 6 hours. Temperatures range from -5 to 25 degrees Celsius across the year.

Doha Metro Gold Line connects the city center directly to Hamad International; the Hamad International Airport station is at the terminal (15–20 min from Al Bidda / West Bay area, QAR 3–6). Metro runs 6am–11pm Sunday–Wednesday, until midnight Thursday, and 2pm–1am Friday. The Gold Line also connects to the Red and Green lines at Msheireb station for wider coverage.Taxis from West Bay / downtown Doha cost QAR 30–50 and take 15–25 minutes. Karwa taxis are metered and more regulated than informal options. Ride-hail apps (Careem, Uber) operate widely in Doha.

Arlanda Express (SEK 280–320) to Stockholm Central in 18 minutes. Departures every 15 minutes from platforms in the terminal. The Pendeltåg (SEK 145 including airport supplement) takes 40 minutes and departs from Arlanda Central station, a short walk or free shuttle from the terminals.Taxis to central Stockholm: SEK 600–800. Uber: SEK 400–600. Several rental car brands operate from ARN. Flygbussarna coaches serve Uppsala (1h, SEK 120) and other regional cities. The airport is 45km north of Stockholm.

Subarctic maritime climate. Winters (December–February) are cold at −7–2°C with reliable snowfall. ARN is well-equipped for winter operations with heated jet bridges and continuous de-icing capability, but major snowstorms still cause delays. Daylight is very limited. December averages fewer than 7 hours.

Summers (June–August) are mild and long at 18–24°C with up to 19 hours of daylight. Operations are very stable. Fog can form on calm, clear autumn nights (September–November). Spring snow in April is not unusual. Pack thermal layers for any winter visit.
