Self-employed applicants need business registration, tax filings, and client contracts. Strong ties to India (property, family, employment) reduce refusal risk. The UK is not part of the Schengen Area, so a Schengen visa does not cover UK entry.

Direct flights from Delhi and Mumbai to London Heathrow run 8 hours 30 minutes to 9 hours 30 minutes on Air India, British Airways, and Virgin Atlantic. Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Kochi connect via nonstop or one-stop routes. The UK uses the British pound (GBP). No mandatory vaccinations. The Heathrow Express to Paddington Station takes 15 minutes for GBP 25 (book online for cheaper advance fares). The Elizabeth Line from Heathrow to central London costs GBP 12.80 (peak) or GBP 11.20 (off-peak) with Oyster/contactless. UK immigration uses eGates for ePassport holders from select countries, but Indian passports go through staffed desks.

Delhi Metro Airport Express runs from New Delhi Railway Station to T3 in 18–20 minutes (₹60 one-way). From Shivaji Stadium (central Delhi) it takes 24 minutes. The line has four stations: New Delhi, Shivaji Stadium, Dhaula Kuan, and IGI Airport (T3). T1 (domestic) is not directly served; take the metro to T3 and the free airport bus shuttle to T1.Prepaid taxis from the terminal use a metered system with fixed rates; central Delhi costs ₹400–600. Ola and Uber operate widely and are often cheaper. Auto-rickshaws are not permitted on the expressway.

Rail from Manchester Airport station (between Terminals 1/2 and 3, connected by free shuttle bus) to Manchester Piccadilly takes 20 minutes (£4.80 off-peak). Metrolink tram is slower (55 min) but cheaper and connects to suburbs not served by rail. Long-distance trains depart directly from the airport station to Liverpool (55 min), Leeds (80 min), and other northern cities.Taxis from arrivals cost £25–40 to the city centre; Uber operates from a designated zone. Temperate maritime climate. Among the wettest of any major UK airport. Rain is possible in any month. Manchester averages over 200 rainy days per year. Winters (November–February) are cool and grey at 3–9°C, with occasional fog delaying operations and infrequent but disruptive snow. Summers are mild at 18–24°C with unpredictable showers.

Wind from the west and southwest is the most common operational disruption. Rare but severe winter ice events can cause significant delays. Pack waterproofs year-round. A warm layer is useful even in August.
