New Delhi to Seoul (DEL–ICN) — Airlines, Schedules & Connections

Indian passport holders need a visa to enter South Korea. Apply at the Korean Embassy or Consulate in India, or use the K-ETA (Korea Electronic Travel Authorization) system at k-eta.go.kr if eligible for short tourism visits. A single-entry C-3 tourist visa costs about $40 (INR 3,300) and allows stays up to 90 days. Processing takes 5 to 7 working days at the embassy. The K-ETA costs KRW 10,000 (about $7.50) and is processed within 24 to 72 hours, valid for 2 years with stays up to 90 days per visit.

Required documents for the embassy visa include a passport valid for at least 6 months with two blank pages, a completed application form, one passport photo, proof of accommodation, return flight booking, bank statements from the last 3 months showing sufficient funds (at least $3,000 equivalent), and a cover letter stating your travel purpose. Employed applicants need a leave letter from their employer. Self-employed applicants need ITR filings from the last 2 years.

Direct flights from Delhi and Mumbai to Seoul Incheon (ICN) run about 7 hours on Air India and Korean Air. Connections through Bangkok, Singapore, or Hong Kong add 3 to 5 hours. South Korea uses the Korean won (KRW), trading at roughly 1,350 KRW per $1. No mandatory vaccinations. T-money cards work on all Seoul public transit and can be bought at any convenience store for KRW 4,000. Indian SIM cards will not work, so grab a KT or SK Telecom tourist SIM at the airport for KRW 22,000 to KRW 55,000.

Delhi Metro Airport Express runs from New Delhi Railway Station to T3 in 18–20 minutes (₹60 one-way). From Shivaji Stadium (central Delhi) it takes 24 minutes. The line has four stations: New Delhi, Shivaji Stadium, Dhaula Kuan, and IGI Airport (T3). T1 (domestic) is not directly served; take the metro to T3 and the free airport bus shuttle to T1.Prepaid taxis from the terminal use a metered system with fixed rates; central Delhi costs ₹400–600. Ola and Uber operate widely and are often cheaper. Auto-rickshaws are not permitted on the expressway.

AREX Direct Train to Seoul Station (43 min, ₩11,000) is a reserved-seat express. The All-Stop train serves Hongik University, City Hall, and other inner-city stations (66 min, ₩4,550). T2 passengers board at a dedicated T2 stop before T1; don't exit early. City Check-in at Seoul Station allows bag drop and boarding pass printing before the train for select airlines.Limousine buses serve major hotel zones and neighborhoods (₩16,000–18,000). Taxis from ICN to central Seoul cost ₩65,000–90,000; use only official orange (general) or black (deluxe) cabs from the designated stands. KakaoTaxi (ride-hail) operates from the airport.

Humid continental climate. Winters are cold and dry (−8 to 2°C, December–February) with occasional snow and wind chill. ICN handles snow well, though heavy falls delay operations. Summer monsoon (Changma) runs late June through July with heavy continuous rain. Typhoons can affect operations August–September with short notice.

Spring brings Yellow Dust (hwangsa) from China. Fine particulate storms reduce visibility and occasionally disrupt flights in March–April. Autumn (October–November) is the best flying season: clear skies, low humidity, 8–18°C. Pack layers for spring and fall. Summer is hot and humid (25–32°C).
