Japanese passport holders enter the United Kingdom visa-free for up to 6 months as a Standard Visitor. No fee, no advance application. The UK uses the British pound (GBP), trading at roughly 150 JPY per GBP 1. The UK left the EU, so Schengen days do not count toward UK stay limits (and vice versa). Oyster cards or contactless payment work on all London transport (Tube, buses, DLR). No mandatory vaccinations. Japan has a Youth Mobility Scheme (working holiday) agreement with the UK for ages 18 to 30, costing GBP 298, valid for 2 years.
