Moroccan passport holders need a Standard Visitor visa to enter the United Kingdom. Apply online at gov.uk/standard-visitor and attend a biometric appointment at a VFS Global center in Rabat or Casablanca. The visa costs GBP 115 (about MAD 1,450) for stays up to 6 months. Processing takes 3 weeks on standard service or 5 working days with the priority service (additional GBP 500). Super priority (next working day) costs GBP 1,000.

Required documents include a passport valid for the duration of your stay, a completed online application, biometric data (fingerprints and photo taken at VFS), proof of accommodation, return flight booking, bank statements from the last 6 months, employment letter with salary, and evidence of ties to Morocco (property, family, ongoing employment). The UK does not require travel insurance, but having it helps your application. Visa decisions are communicated by email, and your passport is returned by courier.

Direct flights from Casablanca to London Gatwick run about 3 hours 30 minutes on Royal Air Maroc and British Airways. Ryanair operates from Marrakech to London Stansted. The UK uses the British pound (GBP), trading at roughly 12.5 MAD per GBP 1. The UK is not in the Schengen area, so a Schengen visa does not cover UK entry. No mandatory vaccinations. Oyster cards or contactless payment work on all London transport.

Rail from Manchester Airport station (between Terminals 1/2 and 3, connected by free shuttle bus) to Manchester Piccadilly takes 20 minutes (£4.80 off-peak). Metrolink tram is slower (55 min) but cheaper and connects to suburbs not served by rail. Long-distance trains depart directly from the airport station to Liverpool (55 min), Leeds (80 min), and other northern cities.Taxis from arrivals cost £25–40 to the city centre; Uber operates from a designated zone. The Skylink bus connects all three terminals. Rental car desks are in the terminal buildings.

Temperate maritime climate. Among the wettest of any major UK airport. Rain is possible in any month. Manchester averages over 200 rainy days per year. Winters (November–February) are cool and grey at 3–9°C, with occasional fog delaying operations and infrequent but disruptive snow. Summers are mild at 18–24°C with unpredictable showers.

Wind from the west and southwest is the most common operational disruption. Rare but severe winter ice events can cause significant delays. Pack waterproofs year-round. A warm layer is useful even in August.
