US passport holders can obtain a Visa on Arrival (VOA) at Indonesian airports for stays up to 30 days. The VOA costs IDR 500,000 (about $31) payable by card or cash at the VOA counter before immigration. Passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry with at least 2 blank pages. A return or onward ticket is required. At Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) in Bali or Soekarno-Hatta (CGK) in Jakarta, proceed to the VOA payment counter first, then to the immigration line.

The 30-day VOA can be extended once for another 30 days (60 days total) at any immigration office in Indonesia. The extension costs IDR 500,000 and takes 5 to 7 working days. Apply at least 7 days before your VOA expires. Indonesia also offers an eVOA applied for at molina.imigrasi.go.id, which costs the same IDR 500,000 but lets you skip the payment counter on arrival and go straight to immigration. For stays beyond 60 days, apply for a B211A social/cultural visa before travel.

No nonstop flights connect the US to Indonesia as of early 2026. Route through Tokyo Narita (about 7 hours to DPS on multiple carriers), Seoul Incheon (about 7 hours to DPS), Singapore (about 2 hours 30 minutes to DPS), or Doha (about 9 hours to CGK). Total travel time from the US West Coast runs 17 to 22 hours. Indonesia uses the Indonesian rupiah (IDR), trading at roughly 16,200 IDR per $1. GoPay and OVO are the dominant digital wallets. Grab operates across major cities. A Bali scooter rental costs IDR 70,000 to IDR 100,000 per day ($4.30 to $6.15). Local warungs serve meals for IDR 20,000 to IDR 50,000 ($1.25 to $3.10).

TRAX light rail Green Line runs from downtown Salt Lake City (Intermodal Hub / Temple Square) to the airport in 18 minutes ($2.50). Trains run every 15 minutes from 5am to 11pm daily. The airport station is inside the terminal building.Ride-shares from downtown cost $15–25 and take 10–20 minutes. I-80 connects directly to the airport from the east. The airport opened a new terminal in 2020; it is one facility now, replacing the old dual-terminal setup. Ski resort shuttles depart from Ground Transportation for Park City, Deer Valley, and Alta/Snowbird (60–90 min).
