Honduras is part of the CA-4 agreement with Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua, meaning the 90-day period is shared across all four countries. At Ramón Villeda Morales International Airport (SAP) in San Pedro Sula or Toncontín International Airport (TGU) in Tegucigalpa, immigration stamps your passport.

The 90-day CA-4 clock starts when you enter any of the four member countries and does not reset when crossing borders between them. For stays beyond 90 days, apply for an extension at the immigration office in Tegucigalpa or San Pedro Sula. Roatán, Utila, and Guanaja (the Bay Islands) are the main tourist destinations, famous for affordable scuba diving on the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef. The Copán Ruins, a major Maya archaeological site, draw visitors to western Honduras.

Direct flights from Miami (MIA) to San Pedro Sula run about 2 hours 45 minutes on American Airlines and Spirit. Houston (IAH) to SAP runs about 3 hours on United. Roatán (RTB) has direct flights from Miami and Houston. Honduras uses the Honduran lempira (HNL), trading at roughly 25 HNL per $1. US dollars are accepted on the Bay Islands and at tourist businesses on the mainland. ATMs are common in cities. Card payments work at hotels and restaurants. Water taxis connect La Ceiba on the mainland to Roatán and Utila: the Roatán ferry costs about HNL 1,000 ($40) round trip and takes 1 hour 15 minutes.
