US passport holders enter Singapore visa-free for up to 90 days. No advance application is needed. Starting in 2024, all visitors must complete the SG Arrival Card (SGAC) online at eservices.ica.gov.sg within 3 days before arrival. Passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry. At Changi Airport (SIN), immigration stamps your passport. Changi has 4 terminals and the Jewel complex, with a 40-meter indoor waterfall, shops, and gardens connecting Terminals 1, 2, and 3.

Singapore is a city-state of 5.9 million people on an island of 733 square kilometers. Hawker centres are the heart of Singapore's food culture: 114 centres serve dishes from $2 to $6 SGD. Chinatown's Maxwell Food Centre, Lau Pa Sat in the CBD, and Old Airport Road are the most popular. Los Angeles to SIN runs about 17 hours 30 minutes on Singapore Airlines and United. San Francisco also has nonstop service. Singapore uses the Singapore dollar (SGD), trading at roughly 1.34 SGD per $1. Card and contactless payments work everywhere. The EZ-Link card covers the MRT (6 lines, 187 stations), buses, and some retail purchases at SGD 1.09 to SGD 2.21 per MRT ride. Changi Airport's MRT station connects to the city center in 30 minutes for about SGD 2 ($1.50). Grab is the dominant ride-hailing app.

CTA Blue Line runs 24/7 from downtown Loop stations to O'Hare (45 min, $5). Pace buses serve suburbs. Ride-shares cost $35–55 from downtown depending on traffic; add 30+ minutes during rush hour on the Kennedy Expressway.Economy parking lots E/F connect via ATS people mover. Terminal 5 (international) is separate from Terminals 1–3; allow extra time for inter-terminal transfers.

MRT from T1/T2/T3 to City Hall takes about 30 minutes (S$2.20–2.50 with EZ-Link card). Trains run from 5:31am to midnight. For Terminal 4, take the free inter-terminal shuttle bus to T2 first.

Taxis from arrivals cost S$20–35 to Orchard or Marina Bay, including airport surcharge (S$5) and possible peak surcharges. Grab is cheaper and very reliable in Singapore. Coach buses serve Johor Bahru (Malaysia) from the airport.

Equatorial climate with no true seasons, hot (26–33°C) and humid year-round. Changi is one of the most reliable airports in Asia for flight operations: thunderstorm cells are intense but brief, typically clearing within 1–2 hours. Most delays are weather-related and short.

Northeast monsoon (November–January) brings the most consistent rain, sometimes for days at a time. Haze from Indonesian forest fires (typically August–October) occasionally reduces visibility and triggers air quality warnings, but rarely grounds flights. Changi's operational efficiency means it handles weather disruptions better than most airports its size.
