Munich to Dallas-Fort Worth (MUC–DFW) — Airlines, Schedules & Connections

German passport holders travel to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) for stays up to 90 days. ESTA requires a machine-readable passport. If your German passport was issued after 2005 it qualifies. You need a return or onward ticket. The 90-day limit is strict and cannot be extended. CBP officers at the US port of entry make the final admission decision. They may ask about your travel purpose, accommodation, and ties to Germany. Honest, brief answers work best. Global Entry membership (USD 100, 5-year validity) speeds up the arrival process at most major US airports through automated kiosks.

S-Bahn S1 and S8 both run to the airport from central Munich. S8 from Marienplatz takes 40 minutes (€13.60 single, or €12 with the Airport City Day Ticket). Trains run every 20 minutes from around 4am to 1am. The two S-Bahn lines run different routes through the city; choose based on your starting point.Lufthansa Airport Bus from the main train station takes 45 minutes (€12 single, €19.50 return). Taxis from central Munich cost €65–80. Ride-shares (Uber) are available. The airport is 29km northeast; allow extra time during morning rush.

DART Orange Line runs to downtown Dallas (50 min, $3). TEXRail reaches downtown Fort Worth in 55 minutes ($2.50). Taxis and ride-shares cost $25–45 to either city center.Rental car facilities are at the south end. All terminals connect via the free Skylink train; this is an airside-only connection, so you must clear security first to use it.

Hot continental climate. Summers are intensely hot (35–40°C) with little rain. Winters are mild (3–12°C) but ice storms hit 2–3 times per year, causing major airport disruptions.

Spring (March–May) brings severe thunderstorms and tornado risk that regularly ground flights. Fall is the best travel window with moderate temperatures and low storm frequency.
