British passport holders enter Senegal visa-free for stays up to 90 days. No fee, no advance application. Passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry with at least two blank pages. The visa-free policy has been in effect since May 2015.

You need a return or onward ticket. Immigration at Blaise Diagne International Airport (DSS) may ask for proof of accommodation and yellow fever vaccination. Register with your embassy if staying more than 30 days. Extensions beyond 90 days require a visit to the Direction de la Police des Etrangers in Dakar.

No direct flights from the UK to Senegal exist on most schedules. Connections via Paris (CDG or ORY) or Casablanca (CMN) are the fastest, with total journey times of 8 to 10 hours. Air France, Royal Air Maroc, and Brussels Airlines serve Dakar from European hubs. The West African CFA franc (XOF) is the local currency, pegged at 655.957 XOF per EUR 1. Yellow fever vaccination is mandatory for all travelers arriving in Senegal. Take malaria prophylaxis for all regions, and bring DEET-based repellent.

The Metrolink tram (Airport line) connects Manchester city centre (Piccadilly) to the airport in about 55 minutes for £4.50–£5.50, running until midnight. The dedicated rail service from Manchester Piccadilly takes only 20 minutes (£4.80 off-peak) and runs frequently from 06:00 to 23:00. Direct trains also serve Liverpool, Leeds, Sheffield, and other northern cities.National Express coaches connect the airport to London Victoria (3h15, from £10) and many regional cities. Taxis from the city centre cost £25–40 depending on traffic. The airport is well-signed from the M56 motorway with on-site multi-storey parking (Terminal 1/2/3 all have adjacent structures).
