On arrival, you provide fingerprints and a photo at immigration. Bring proof of onward travel and accommodation for at least the first few nights. Extensions of up to 90 additional days are possible at a regional immigration office (4,000 JPY, about $27) but approval is not guaranteed. Working on a tourist entry is strictly prohibited.
