You need a return or onward ticket. Immigration may ask for proof of accommodation (hotel booking or host details). Processing is fast at Hamad International Airport (DOH) with automated e-gates available for biometric passport holders. Extensions are handled through the Ministry of Interior's online portal before the initial 30 days expire.

Direct flights from London Heathrow to Doha run about 6 hours 40 minutes on Qatar Airways and British Airways. The Qatari riyal (QAR) is pegged at 3.64 QAR per $1. No vaccination requirements for UK arrivals. Qatar permits alcohol in licensed hotels and restaurants but public intoxication carries severe penalties. Import of alcohol, pork products, and religious materials is restricted at customs.

Heathrow Express runs from London Paddington to T5 and T2/T3 in 15–21 minutes (£37 single, cheaper booked online or via the Heathrow app). Elizabeth line (Crossrail) is a lower-cost alternative; Paddington to T5 in 34 minutes from £13.50 with an Oyster/contactless cap of £14.90. The Elizabeth line also serves central London stations including Bond Street, Farringdon, and Liverpool Street.London Underground Piccadilly line serves all terminals (T2/T3/T4/T5) from central London in 40–60 minutes (£6 with Oyster). Taxis (black cabs) from central London cost £55–90 depending on traffic. Coach services from Victoria Coach Station (National Express) cost from £10 booked in advance.

Doha Metro Gold Line departs from inside the terminal to the city centre (15–20 min, QAR 3–6). Msheireb station is the interchange for connecting to the Red and Green lines. First train is at 6am; late-night arrivals will need a taxi or ride-hail. Karwa taxis are available at the arrivals area; West Bay costs QAR 30–50.Careem and Uber are the most cost-effective options. Hamad International has no separate rental car facility visible from arrivals; rental desks are landside. The airport is 15 km from central Doha with good road access via the Corniche and Lusail Expressway.

Desert climate, similar to Dubai. Summers (June–September) are intensely hot (37–45°C) with very high humidity. Ground operations slow but flights rarely cancel for heat alone. Dust haze is persistent and occasionally reduces visibility below instrument minimums. Winter (November–March) is pleasant at 15–26°C and represents Qatar Airways' peak operational period.

Rain is rare, fewer than 10 rainy days per year, but the drainage infrastructure means even light rain causes road flooding. Occasional dust storms (shamal) reduce visibility and can ground departures for hours. Spring (March–May) is the most dust-prone season.
