US passport holders enter Guernsey visa-free for up to 6 months. Guernsey is a British Crown Dependency and follows UK immigration rules. No advance application is needed. Passport must be valid for the duration of the stay. Guernsey is part of the Common Travel Area (CTA) with the UK, Ireland, Jersey, and the Isle of Man, so there are no routine immigration checks on flights from the UK. If arriving directly from outside the CTA, immigration at Guernsey Airport (GCI) stamps your passport.

Guernsey is not part of the UK or the EU. It has its own parliament (the States of Deliberation) and tax system. VAT does not apply in Guernsey, making shopping slightly cheaper than the UK mainland for certain goods. The Bailiwick of Guernsey includes the islands of Guernsey, Herm, Sark, and Alderney. Ferries connect them: Herm is a 20-minute boat ride from St. Peter Port, Sark is about 50 minutes, and Alderney has its own small airport.

No direct flights connect the US to Guernsey. Route through London Gatwick (about 1 hour to GCI on Aurigny or Blue Islands), Southampton (30 minutes), or Jersey (15 minutes). Total travel time from the US East Coast runs 9 to 13 hours. Guernsey uses the Guernsey pound (GGP), issued at par with the British pound sterling. UK banknotes and coins are accepted everywhere. Card payments work at most businesses. Guernsey notes are not accepted in the UK, so spend or exchange them before leaving. The island is 24 square miles: bus routes cover it fully at GBP 1 per journey with exact change, or GBP 19 for a 7-day pass.

FlyAway bus runs from Van Nuys and Union Station ($9.75, 30–50 min depending on traffic). LA Metro C Line connects to Aviation/LAX station; a free shuttle covers the last mile to terminals. Ride-shares cost $20–50 from downtown. Long-term parking lots A/B are walkable; remote Lot E requires a shuttle.
