US passport holders enter Serbia visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. No advance application is needed. Serbia is not an EU or Schengen member, so time spent in Serbia does not count against any Schengen 90-day limit. Passport must be valid for the duration of the stay. Serbia sits at a crossroads of Central and Southeast Europe. Belgrade's Kalemegdan Fortress overlooks the confluence of the Danube and Sava rivers. Novi Sad, 90km north, hosts the EXIT music festival each July. The Serbian Orthodox monasteries of Studenica and Sopocani are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Overland routes connect Belgrade to Budapest (6 hours by train), Sarajevo (7 hours by bus), and Sofia (7 hours by bus).

No nonstop flights connect the US to Serbia as of early 2026. Route through Istanbul (about 2 hours to BEG on Turkish Airlines), Vienna (about 1 hour 30 minutes on Austrian), Munich (about 1 hour 50 minutes on Air Serbia or Lufthansa), or Paris (about 2 hours 30 minutes on Air Serbia). Total travel time from the US East Coast runs 11 to 16 hours. Serbia uses the Serbian dinar (RSD), trading at roughly 110 RSD per $1. Euros are accepted at many hotels and tourist businesses. Card payments work in Belgrade and larger cities. Bus A1 runs from BEG to Slavija Square in central Belgrade in 30 minutes for RSD 300 ($2.75). Restaurant meals cost RSD 800 to RSD 1,800 ($7.25 to $16.35). Belgrade's nightlife district along the Sava River features floating clubs (splavovi) open from spring through fall.

FlyAway bus runs from Van Nuys and Union Station ($9.75, 30–50 min depending on traffic). LA Metro C Line connects to Aviation/LAX station; a free shuttle covers the last mile to terminals. Ride-shares cost $20–50 from downtown. Long-term parking lots A/B are walkable; remote Lot E requires a shuttle.
