The King Fahd Causeway connects the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia directly to Bahrain by road, making this one of the most heavily traveled borders in the Gulf. The 25 km causeway crossing takes 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on traffic and border queues, with Thursday and Friday evenings being the busiest.

GCC citizens can live, work, and own property in Bahrain under the GCC common market framework. No work permit or residence visa is required. Bahrain is a popular weekend destination for Saudi residents, particularly from Dammam, Dhahran, and Khobar, which are 30 to 60 minutes from the causeway entrance. At Bahrain International Airport (BAH), GCC nationals use the fast-track lanes.

Direct flights from Riyadh to Bahrain run about 1 hour on Saudia, Gulf Air, and flynas. Jeddah to Bahrain runs about 2 hours. But most Saudi visitors drive across the causeway. The causeway toll is SAR 25 (about BHD 2.50) per car each way. Bahrain uses the Bahraini dinar (BHD), trading at 1 BHD per SAR 10. Card payments work everywhere. No mandatory vaccinations. Bahrain is compact (765 sq km), and taxis or ride-hail apps cover the island quickly. The Bahrain National Museum, Manama Souq, and Al Fateh Grand Mosque are all within 10 minutes of central Manama.

The Haramain High Speed Railway connects JED Airport Station to Jeddah city (King Abdullah Station) in about 15 minutes (SAR 20–25). The same line runs to Mecca and Medina, making it useful for Hajj and Umrah travelers.Taxis from central Jeddah cost SAR 60–100 and take 25–45 minutes. Uber and Careem operate widely and typically run SAR 40–80. Driving yourself is straightforward; the airport is well signed from King Abdulaziz Road and the Ring Road.
