Turkish passport holders enter Montenegro visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. No advance application is needed. Passport must be valid for the duration of stay. You can also enter with a Turkish national ID card. A return or onward ticket may be requested at immigration.

At Podgorica (TGD) or Tivat (TIV) airports, immigration stamps your passport quickly. Montenegro is not part of the Schengen Area, so a Schengen visa is not required. Turkish Airlines operates direct flights from Istanbul (IST) to Podgorica in about 2 hours. Seasonal summer flights also connect Istanbul to Tivat near the Bay of Kotor. Montenegro uses the euro (EUR), trading at roughly 38 TRY per EUR 1. ATMs are available in Podgorica, Budva, Kotor, and coastal towns. Card payments work at hotels and restaurants. Budva and Kotor are the main coastal destinations. The drive from Podgorica to Kotor takes about 1 hour 30 minutes through mountain roads. Local buses connect all major towns at low fares, with Podgorica to Budva costing about EUR 7.

Istanbul Metro M11 Gayrettepe–İstanbul Havalimanı line connects the airport to the broader metro network; from Gayrettepe (Mecidiyeköy/Levent area) the journey is about 35 minutes (₺60–70 with Istanbulkart). The line runs roughly 5am to midnight.Havaist express buses serve Taksim, Kadıköy, and other major hubs (₺50–80, 45–90 minutes depending on traffic). Taxis use a meter; expect ₺400–600 from Taksim or Sultanahmet. The airport is 35km northwest of the city; traffic on the O-7 motorway can be severe during peak hours.
