Istanbul to Minsk (IST–MSQ) — Airlines, Schedules & Connections

Turkish passport holders enter Belarus visa-free for up to 30 days when arriving and departing through Minsk National Airport (MSQ). No advance application is needed. Passport must be valid for at least 90 days beyond the planned departure from Belarus. You need travel medical insurance valid in Belarus (minimum EUR 10,000 coverage), a return or onward ticket, and proof of funds equivalent to at least 2 base amounts per day (about BYN 50 per day, roughly TRY 540).

The 30-day visa-free entry applies only to air arrivals at Minsk. If entering by land from Russia, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, or Ukraine, different rules apply and a visa may be required. Belarus also has a visa-free zone at Brest (up to 15 days) and Grodno (up to 15 days) for visitors arriving through those specific border points with dedicated travel documentation.

Direct flights from Istanbul (IST) to Minsk run about 2 hours 45 minutes on Turkish Airlines and Belavia. Belarus uses the Belarusian ruble (BYN), trading at roughly 0.09 BYN per TRY 1. Card payments work at hotels, larger restaurants, and shopping centers in Minsk. Visa and Mastercard issued by non-sanctioned banks function normally inside Belarus. ATMs dispense BYN in Minsk and major cities. The Minsk Metro has two lines and costs BYN 0.90 per ride (about TRY 10). Taxis from MSQ to central Minsk cost BYN 40 to BYN 60 (TRY 430 to TRY 650). Yandex Go is the main ride-hailing app.

Istanbul Metro M11 Gayrettepe–İstanbul Havalimanı line connects the airport to the broader metro network; from Gayrettepe (Mecidiyeköy/Levent area) the journey is about 35 minutes (₺60–70 with Istanbulkart). The line runs roughly 5am to midnight.Havaist express buses serve Taksim, Kadıköy, and other major hubs (₺50–80, 45–90 minutes depending on traffic). Taxis use a meter; expect ₺400–600 from Taksim or Sultanahmet. The airport is 35km northwest of the city; traffic on the O-7 motorway can be severe during peak hours.
