Turkish passport holders need a visa to enter Algeria. Apply at the Algerian Embassy in Ankara or the consulate in Istanbul. Required documents include a completed application form, two passport photos, proof of accommodation, a return ticket, bank statements, and travel insurance. Passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry with at least two blank pages. Processing takes 1 to 3 weeks. Tourist visas are single-entry and valid for up to 30 days.

Algeria does not offer an e-visa or visa on arrival for Turkish nationals. The embassy visa is the only path. Algeria and Turkey maintain strong bilateral ties, and Turkish construction firms are active throughout the country, so business visas are common. For business visits, add a letter of invitation from the Algerian host company.

Direct flights from Istanbul (IST) to Algiers Houari Boumediene (ALG) run about 3 hours 30 minutes on Turkish Airlines and Air Algerie. Algeria uses the Algerian dinar (DZD), trading at roughly 3.9 DZD per TRY 1. The dinar is a closed currency and cannot be purchased outside Algeria. ATMs are available in Algiers and major cities. Card payments work at hotels and larger businesses, but cash is essential for daily transactions. French and Arabic are the working languages.

Istanbul Metro M11 Gayrettepe–İstanbul Havalimanı line connects the airport to the broader metro network; from Gayrettepe (Mecidiyeköy/Levent area) the journey is about 35 minutes (₺60–70 with Istanbulkart). The line runs roughly 5am to midnight.Havaist express buses serve Taksim, Kadıköy, and other major hubs (₺50–80, 45–90 minutes depending on traffic). Taxis use a meter; expect ₺400–600 from Taksim or Sultanahmet. The airport is 35km northwest of the city; traffic on the O-7 motorway can be severe during peak hours.
