Istanbul to Bangkok (IST–BKK) — Airlines, Schedules & Connections

Turkish passport holders enter Thailand visa-free for stays up to 30 days. No advance application is needed. Passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry with at least 2 blank pages. A return or onward ticket and proof of funds (10,000 THB per person) may be requested at immigration. Extensions of 30 days can be obtained at a local immigration office for 1,900 THB.

Istanbul Metro M11 Gayrettepe–İstanbul Havalimanı line connects the airport to the broader metro network; from Gayrettepe (Mecidiyeköy/Levent area) the journey is about 35 minutes (₺60–70 with Istanbulkart). The line runs roughly 5am to midnight.Havaist express buses serve Taksim, Kadıköy, and other major hubs (₺50–80, 45–90 minutes depending on traffic). Taxis use a meter; expect ₺400–600 from Taksim or Sultanahmet. The airport is 35km northwest of the city; traffic on the O-7 motorway can be severe during peak hours.

Airport Rail Link runs to Phaya Thai in 30 minutes (฿45). Runs 6am to midnight. Connect to BTS Skytrain at Phaya Thai for onward travel to Sukhumvit, Silom, or Siam.Taxis from the arrivals level are metered; add the ฿50 airport surcharge and expressway tolls to the meter reading. Total to central Bangkok typically ฿300–450. Grab is reliable and avoids negotiation. Limousine services (฿800–1,500) are available from the arrival hall. Buses are cheap but slow given Bangkok's traffic.

Tropical monsoon climate. Hot season (March–May) reaches 38–40°C with high humidity. Wet season (May–October) brings daily heavy rains and occasional flooding. Thunderstorms cause flight delays regularly. Suvarnabhumi sits in a flood-prone area east of Bangkok. The 2011 floods came close to the airport perimeter.

Cool season (November–February) is the most comfortable for travel (25–32°C) with lower humidity and good flying weather. Haze from agricultural burning occasionally reduces visibility in March–April.
