The Jordan Pass (jordanpass.jo) is worth buying before arrival if you plan to visit Petra. It costs JOD 70 to JOD 80 (TRY 3,360 to TRY 3,840) depending on the number of days at Petra (1, 2, or 3 days) and includes entry to over 40 sites across Jordan plus a waiver of the JOD 40 tourism fee that would otherwise apply to some visitors. Purchase the pass online before travel and show the QR code at sites.

Direct flights from Istanbul (IST) to Amman (AMM) run about 2 hours 30 minutes on Turkish Airlines and Royal Jordanian. Jordan uses the Jordanian dinar (JOD), pegged at 0.71 JOD per $1, trading at roughly 0.021 JOD per TRY 1 (or about 48 TRY per JOD 1). ATMs are common in Amman and tourist areas. Card payments work at hotels, malls, and restaurants. Uber and Careem operate in Amman. JETT buses connect Amman to Petra (Wadi Musa) in about 3 hours for JOD 11 (TRY 530) and to Aqaba in about 4 hours for JOD 10 (TRY 480). Arabic is the official language, with English widely spoken in tourism and business.

Istanbul Metro M11 Gayrettepe–İstanbul Havalimanı line connects the airport to the broader metro network; from Gayrettepe (Mecidiyeköy/Levent area) the journey is about 35 minutes (₺60–70 with Istanbulkart). The line runs roughly 5am to midnight.Havaist express buses serve Taksim, Kadıköy, and other major hubs (₺50–80, 45–90 minutes depending on traffic). Taxis use a meter; expect ₺400–600 from Taksim or Sultanahmet. The airport is 35km northwest of the city; traffic on the O-7 motorway can be severe during peak hours.
