Processing is near-instant in most cases but can take up to 12 hours. The ETA is valid for 12 months with multiple entries, each stay up to 90 days. Passport must be valid for the duration of your stay. The ETA is linked electronically to your passport, so no printout is needed.

If the ETA app does not work (some users report technical issues), apply for a Visitor Visa (subclass 600) at immi.homeaffairs.gov.au for AUD 190, allowing stays up to 3, 6, or 12 months. Processing takes 1 to 4 weeks. At Australian immigration, you clear SmartGate (automated) if your passport has a chip, which takes about 2 minutes. Declare all food, plant material, wooden items, and animal products. Australia's biosecurity fines start at AUD 626.

Direct flights from Seoul Incheon to Sydney (SYD) run about 10 hours 30 minutes on Korean Air, Asiana, and Qantas. Direct service also reaches Brisbane (BNE) and Melbourne is possible with one stop through Sydney or via carriers routing through Southeast Asia. Australia uses the Australian dollar (AUD), trading at roughly 0.0011 AUD per KRW. Opal cards (Sydney), Myki (Melbourne), and Go Cards (Brisbane) handle all local transit. No mandatory vaccinations for arrivals from South Korea.

AREX (Airport Railroad Express) runs two services from Seoul Station: the Direct Train (43 min, ₩11,000, reserved seats) and the All-Stop train (66 min, ₩4,550, unreserved). Both trains serve T1 first, then T2; confirm which terminal your airline uses before boarding.Limousine buses depart from major Seoul neighborhoods and hotels (₩16,000–18,000, 60–90 min depending on traffic). KAL and LIMOUSINE services are reliable. Taxis from central Seoul cost ₩65,000–80,000 and take 60–90 minutes. Deluxe (black) taxis are pricier but English-speaking drivers are more common.

SkyBus runs to Southern Cross Station in 30–40 minutes (AUD $22–24), operating 24/7. Tickets can be bought on the bus, app, or counter in arrivals. Suburban stops are available on selected services.Taxis from the rank cost AUD $55–75 to the CBD (30–40 min, more in traffic). Uber: AUD $35–55. Rental car desks are in the terminal; the off-airport option (cheaper) requires a shuttle. No suburban train exists yet; the airport is not on Melbourne's rail network. Myki transit cards do not cover MEL.

Melbourne's weather is famously variable. "Four seasons in one day" is a local cliché with real operational meaning. The city sits on Port Phillip Bay in a temperate zone. Summer (December–February) averages 25–30°C but can spike above 40°C during northerly heat events. These extreme heat days occasionally cause ground crew restrictions.

Winter (June–August) is cool at 7–14°C with rain and low cloud. Fog-related delays are occasional but not severe. Thunderstorms are most common October through March. Pack layers year-round. The weather changes rapidly. Disruption risk is low by global standards.
