South Korean passport holders need an eVisa to enter Azerbaijan. Apply at evisa.gov.az for $26 (single-entry, 30-day stay). Processing takes up to 3 working days, often within 24 hours. A standard tourist visa through the Azerbaijan Embassy in Seoul costs $20 and takes 5 to 10 working days. Visa on arrival is not available for Korean nationals.

For the eVisa, upload a passport scan (valid for at least 3 months beyond entry) and a passport photo. No hotel booking or return ticket is required for the application, but immigration at Heydar Aliyev Airport (GYD) may ask. The eVisa is linked electronically to your passport, but print a copy. Overstays incur a fine of AZN 300 to AZN 400 (about $175 to $235).

No direct flights connect South Korea to Azerbaijan. Route through Istanbul (about 4 hours to Baku on Turkish Airlines), Dubai, or Almaty. Total travel time from Seoul Incheon runs 12 to 16 hours. Azerbaijan uses the Azerbaijani manat (AZN), pegged at 1.70 AZN per $1. ATMs are common in Baku but scarce outside the capital. No mandatory vaccinations. Baku taxis do not use meters, so agree on a price beforehand or use the Bolt app. The Baku Metro costs AZN 0.40 per ride using a BakiKart (buy one at any metro station for AZN 2).

AREX (Airport Railroad Express) runs two services from Seoul Station: the Direct Train (43 min, ₩11,000, reserved seats) and the All-Stop train (66 min, ₩4,550, unreserved). Both trains serve T1 first, then T2; confirm which terminal your airline uses before boarding.Limousine buses depart from major Seoul neighborhoods and hotels (₩16,000–18,000, 60–90 min depending on traffic). KAL and LIMOUSINE services are reliable. Taxis from central Seoul cost ₩65,000–80,000 and take 60–90 minutes. Deluxe (black) taxis are pricier but English-speaking drivers are more common.
