Newark, Miami, Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia also have nonstop service to Italian cities. Italy uses the euro, trading at roughly $1.08 per EUR 1. Card payments work at most businesses, though small shops and trattorias may prefer cash for amounts under EUR 10. Rome's metro has 3 lines: single tickets cost EUR 1.50 ($1.62). A 7-day Roma Pass costs EUR 38.50 and includes unlimited transit plus museum discounts. WMATA Silver Line Metro now reaches Dulles directly; take Silver Line to Washington Dulles Airport station (about 65 min from Metro Center, ~$7). The connection opened in late 2022.Ride-shares from downtown DC run $35–60 and take 35–50 minutes via I-66 (longer during peak hours). Washington Flyer coach to Wiehle-Reston East Metro costs $6. The airport is 27 miles from downtown; taxis are expensive ($60–80).
