US passport holders can enter China visa-free for stays up to 30 days under a temporary policy running through December 31, 2026. This covers tourism, business visits, and transit. No advance application is needed. Passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry.

For stays beyond 30 days, a standard visa from a Chinese embassy or consulate is required before departure. Separate 144-hour and 72-hour visa-free transit programs exist at select airports for travelers continuing to a third country.

Metro Line 2 runs from the airport to central Zhengzhou and Zhengzhou East Station (high-speed rail hub) in 30–40 minutes for CNY 20–25. Taxis and DiDi depart from designated stands outside arrivals; fares to the city centre are CNY 70–120. Airport bus routes serve multiple hotel and transport hubs across the city.Zhengzhou is a major high-speed rail node with frequent connections to Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an, and Wuhan from Zhengzhou East Station. Humid continental climate. Summers (June–August) are hot and humid at 28–36°C with heavy rainfall; flooding and severe thunderstorms are genuine risks and can disrupt ground operations. Winters (December–February) are cold and dry at −4 to 5°C, with occasional snow and freezing fog causing de-icing delays.

Zhengzhou is prone to extreme weather events, including the historic July 2021 floods. Spring and autumn are mild and pleasant. Sandstorms can occur in spring, occasionally reducing visibility at the airport.
