Japanese passport holders enter Spain visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the Schengen area. No fee, no advance application. Passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen zone. No supporting documents are technically required, but having return tickets and hotel bookings is wise.

Your passport is stamped on first entry into the Schengen area. The 90-day clock runs across all 27 Schengen countries, not just Spain. Direct flights from Tokyo Narita to Madrid run about 14 hours 30 minutes on Iberia. Japan Airlines codeshares on the same route. Connections through European hubs (Paris, Frankfurt, London) to Barcelona and other Spanish cities are plentiful. Spain uses the euro. No mandatory vaccinations. Spain's meal schedule runs late: lunch is 2 to 4 PM, dinner starts at 9 PM, and many restaurants do not open for dinner until 8:30 PM. Shops close during siesta hours (2 to 5 PM) in smaller cities.

Keikyu Line from Shinagawa reaches Haneda in 13 minutes (¥310). Tokyo Monorail from Hamamatsucho takes 15–22 minutes (¥500). Both run frequently from 5am to midnight. Haneda's central location makes it by far the most convenient Tokyo airport.Taxis from central Tokyo cost ¥3,500–5,500 depending on destination and traffic. Limousine buses serve major hotels and stations (¥600–1,100). Ride-shares (GO, S.RIDE) are growing in Japan. The airport is 14km from central Tokyo, significantly closer than Narita.
