German passport holders do not need a visa for Canada. You do need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) before boarding your flight. It costs CAD 7, takes about 5 minutes to fill out online, and is usually approved within minutes. The eTA is valid for 5 years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first.

Each stay is limited to 6 months. Immigration officers at the border decide the exact duration, but 6 months is standard for tourists. Your passport must be valid for the length of your stay. Bring proof of return travel and enough funds for your trip.

The eTA is only required for air travel. If you enter Canada by land or sea from the US, no eTA is needed. Apply at the official Government of Canada site (canada.ca) and avoid third-party sites that charge extra fees.

S-Bahn lines S8 and S9 run from Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof (main station) to Terminal 1 every 15 minutes (15 min, €5.65 single or included in a Frankfurt day ticket). ICE and IC long-distance trains serve the airport's own long-distance station (Fernbahnhof); this is separate from the S-Bahn Regional station and connects Frankfurt to Cologne, Stuttgart, Munich, and other cities without requiring travel through the city centre.Taxis from the city centre cost €25–35 and take 15–25 minutes. Terminal 2 connects to Terminal 1 via the free SkyLine people mover.
