German passport holders enter Thailand visa-free for up to 60 days. Your passport must have at least 6 months of validity and at least 1 blank page. Immigration may ask for proof of onward travel and funds of THB 20,000 (around EUR 520) per person, though this is rarely checked for European passport holders.

The 60-day visa exemption can be extended once at any immigration office in Thailand for 30 more days. The extension fee is THB 1,900. If you want to stay longer than 90 days total, apply for a 60-day tourist visa at a Thai embassy before departure. That visa costs EUR 35 and can also be extended for 30 days in-country.

Thailand requires proof of accommodation for the first night. A hotel booking confirmation works. Land border entries have the same 60-day exemption as air arrivals since the 2024 rule change.

S-Bahn lines S8 and S9 run from Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof (main station) to Terminal 1 every 15 minutes (15 min, €5.65 single or included in a Frankfurt day ticket). ICE and IC long-distance trains serve the airport's own long-distance station (Fernbahnhof); this is separate from the S-Bahn Regional station and connects Frankfurt to Cologne, Stuttgart, Munich, and other cities without requiring travel through the city centre.Taxis from the city centre cost €25–35 and take 15–25 minutes. Terminal 2 connects to Terminal 1 via the free SkyLine people mover.
