US passport holders enter Venezuela visa-free for up to 90 days for tourism. No advance application is needed. Passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry. At Simon Bolivar International Airport (CCS) near Caracas, immigration stamps your passport. You receive a tourist card (tarjeta de ingreso) on arrival or from your airline during the flight. Keep this card until departure.

Venezuela is home to Angel Falls (Salto Angel), the world's highest uninterrupted waterfall at 979 meters, located in Canaima National Park. Los Roques Archipelago, a national park of coral islands in the Caribbean, offers white sand beaches and reef snorkeling. Margarita Island (Isla de Margarita) is the main beach resort destination with domestic flights from Caracas. The Andes run through western Venezuela, with Merida as the base for mountain trekking.

Direct flights from Miami (MIA) to Caracas run about 3 hours 30 minutes. Service varies by carrier and season. Total travel time from other US cities adds a connection through Miami, Panama City (about 3 hours 30 minutes to CCS on Copa), or Bogota (about 2 hours). Venezuela uses the bolivar (VES). The currency has undergone multiple redenominations. US dollars circulate widely as a parallel currency and are accepted at many hotels, restaurants, and shops. Bring clean US bills in small denominations ($1, $5, $10, $20). Card payments work at some businesses but cash (dollars or bolivares) is more reliable. Domestic flights are the practical way to reach Angel Falls and other distant destinations: Conviasa and other carriers connect Caracas to regional airports.

Broward County Transit Route 1 runs from downtown Fort Lauderdale to the airport (30–40 min, $2), but it is slow with many stops. The airport has no direct rail link; Brightline's FLL station is 1.5 miles away with a shuttle connection.Ride-shares cost $15–25 from Fort Lauderdale and $35–55 from Miami Beach. Taxis are metered. I-595 and I-95 access can be congested during Miami rush hour (7–9am and 4–7pm).
