Doha to Livingstone (DOH–LVI) — Airlines, Schedules & Connections

Qatari passport holders can get a visa on arrival in Zambia or apply for an e-visa at evisa.zambiaimmigration.gov.zm before departure. A single-entry tourist visa costs $50, valid for 90 days. The e-visa takes 3 to 5 business days to process. At Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (LUN) in Lusaka or Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International Airport (LVI) near Livingstone, the visa-on-arrival counter is efficient. Passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry.

If visiting both Zambia and Zimbabwe (for Victoria Falls from both sides), get the KAZA UniVisa ($50), which covers both countries for 30 days and allows unlimited crossings between them. Available at major airports and the Victoria Falls border post. The day-trip visa ($20) works if you only need a quick crossing for a few hours. For stays beyond 90 days, extend at the Immigration Department in Lusaka.

No direct flights connect Doha to Zambia. Route through Johannesburg (2 hours to Lusaka on South African Airways or Airlink), Nairobi (3 hours on Kenya Airways), or Addis Ababa (4 hours on Ethiopian Airlines). Total travel time from Doha runs 10 to 16 hours. Zambia uses the Zambian kwacha (ZMW), trading at roughly 7.70 ZMW per QAR 1. USD is widely accepted at lodges, tour operators, and near Victoria Falls. Card payments work at hotels and larger businesses. Yellow fever vaccination is required if arriving from an endemic country. Victoria Falls entry fee is $20 per adult on the Zambian side. Livingstone is the main base for the falls, with the town just 10 km from the entrance.

Doha Metro Gold Line connects the city center directly to Hamad International; the Hamad International Airport station is at the terminal (15–20 min from Al Bidda / West Bay area, QAR 3–6). Metro runs 6am–11pm Sunday–Wednesday, until midnight Thursday, and 2pm–1am Friday. The Gold Line also connects to the Red and Green lines at Msheireb station for wider coverage.Taxis from West Bay / downtown Doha cost QAR 30–50 and take 15–25 minutes. Karwa taxis are metered and more regulated than informal options. Ride-hail apps (Careem, Uber) operate widely in Doha.
