Doha to Lisbon (DOH–LIS) — Airlines, Schedules & Connections

Qatari passport holders enter Portugal (and the entire Schengen area) visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period under the EU-Qatar visa waiver. No fee, no advance application. Passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond planned departure from the Schengen area with at least two blank pages. At Lisbon Humberto Delgado (LIS) or Porto (OPO), you go through the non-EU immigration lane and receive a stamp.

The 90/180-day rule covers all Schengen countries combined, so days in Spain, France, or elsewhere in the zone count against the same allowance. For stays beyond 90 days, apply for a national visa at the Portuguese Embassy in Doha. Portugal also offers a digital nomad visa (D8) and golden visa program for longer-term stays and residency.

Direct flights from Doha to Lisbon are not available as of early 2026. Route through a European hub: Istanbul to Lisbon (4 hours on Turkish Airlines), London to Lisbon (2 hours 45 minutes), or Frankfurt to Lisbon (3 hours). Qatar Airways connects to many European cities with onward flights to Portugal. Total travel time from Doha runs 9 to 13 hours. Portugal uses the euro, trading at roughly 0.25 EUR per QAR 1 or 3.64 QAR per EUR 1. No mandatory vaccinations. Lisbon's Viva Viagem card covers metro, buses, trams, and ferries at EUR 1.65 per trip with zapping credit. Portugal's mild climate (15 to 30 degrees Celsius year-round in Lisbon) is a significant contrast to Doha's summers.

Doha Metro Gold Line connects the city center directly to Hamad International; the Hamad International Airport station is at the terminal (15–20 min from Al Bidda / West Bay area, QAR 3–6). Metro runs 6am–11pm Sunday–Wednesday, until midnight Thursday, and 2pm–1am Friday. The Gold Line also connects to the Red and Green lines at Msheireb station for wider coverage.Taxis from West Bay / downtown Doha cost QAR 30–50 and take 15–25 minutes. Karwa taxis are metered and more regulated than informal options. Ride-hail apps (Careem, Uber) operate widely in Doha.

Metro Red Line directly from the airport station to central Lisbon in 20–25 minutes (€1.85 single). Most central destinations (Rossio, Baixa-Chiado, Oriente) are reachable within 30 minutes total. Operating hours 6:30am to 1am.Taxis cost €10–15 to the city centre. Uber and Bolt are cheaper still at €8–12. AeroBus to Marquês de Pombal costs €4. The airport is just 7km from the city centre; ground transport is fast by European standards.

Mediterranean climate. Summers are hot and sunny (28–35°C) with almost no rain. July and August rarely see any precipitation and offer the most reliable flying weather in Europe. Winters are mild and rainy (8–15°C), with the wettest months December through February.

Flight disruptions are uncommon. Atlantic coastal fog can affect early morning visibility in autumn (October–November). Wind off the Atlantic is persistent year-round and can affect smaller aircraft but rarely disrupts scheduled service.
