US passport holders enter Cyprus visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. No advance application is needed. Cyprus is an EU member but not in the Schengen area, so time spent in Cyprus does not count against your Schengen 90-day limit. Passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond the planned departure from Cyprus. At Larnaca International Airport (LCA) or Paphos Airport (PFO), immigration stamps your passport with no forms to fill out.

The Republic of Cyprus controls the southern part of the island. The northern part operates under a separate administration. US citizens can cross between south and north at designated checkpoints (Ledra Street in Nicosia is the most popular pedestrian crossing). Your Republic of Cyprus entry stamp is sufficient for crossing into the north. Entering Cyprus through a northern port of entry (Ercan Airport) is not recognized by the Republic of Cyprus and may create complications.

No direct flights connect the US to Cyprus. Route through London (about 4 hours 30 minutes to LCA on multiple carriers), Athens (about 1 hour 30 minutes to LCA on Aegean), or Frankfurt (about 3 hours 45 minutes). Total travel time from the US East Coast runs 12 to 16 hours. Cyprus uses the euro, trading at roughly $1.08 per EUR 1. Card payments work widely. Local buses between cities cost EUR 4 to EUR 7 (Larnaca to Nicosia takes about 1 hour). Car rental is the practical way to explore: rates start at EUR 20 per day. Cyprus drives on the left, a legacy of British colonial rule.

DART Orange Line runs from downtown Dallas to Terminal A (50 min, $3). TEXRail serves Terminal B from Fort Worth ($2.50). No direct rail connects both cities to DFW; choose based on your origin.
